For physical commodity traders the operations department is where the rubber meets the road. You can send money around the world by wire in an instant but physical commodities such as oil, gas, power, metals and softs take a little longer. In cKlear we have many years of experience in currency trading software and dealing with systems to support physical operations. The complex issues of actualization, balancing, scheduling require systems that are both flexible and detailed.

Actualization a rules based approach

In commodities such as oil and gas the rules governing actualization can be complex. In this paper we describe a systems architecture that is highly flexible and allows the operations department to create and govern the process using a rules engine.
