Pool bidding System for Aquirente Unico
Aquirente Unico "The Single Buyer" provides more than half of the electricity for the Italian spot electricity market. cKlear was asked to provide a trading system that would manage the process of bidding for power from the Italian Pool. The requirements for the system were very exacting, it needed to be highly flexible and configurable to allow for possible future changes in the bidding rules. It had to allow the users to specify bids for each bidding period in terms of the quantity and price. Sophisticated requirements included the ability to track previous bids; to keep inventories of accepted bids and provide the means to retract and resubmit bids, maintaining the correct inventory levels and assisting the trader to make decisions. A complete solution was built meeting the needs of front office traders as well as back office settlements.

Technical Architecture Consultants for Oil Major
Our client, one of the worlds leading oil majors, was seeking a solution to manage its global market risk. cKlear was engaged to provide technical architecture consultancy. The major challenge our consultants faced was the sheer enormity of the problem. The requirement was to provide an architecture that would provide risk numbers in a timely fashion, if possible on an intra-day basis. The customer needed to be able to assess the risk on more than a million trade components with more than ten thousand risk factors across multiple business entities within the global trading business. The project involved designing a detailed architecture and critically examining key architectural components of the solution by running proofs-of-concept with potential 3rd party system vendors.

Enterprise Data Bus Architecture Design
Our client, an important sell-side City firm, was seeking a solution for its trading and risk management across a broad set of asset classes. The client had a number of third party vendor systems in place and was seeking a solution that would provide a cohesive flow of data across the enterprise. cKlear was engaged to advise on the design and selection of an architecture to meet the needs of this growing business. Our consultants analysed the "as-is" situation and proposed a solution that included selection of 3rd party vendor data-bus and data-caching components.

The system requirements for speed of calculation and volumes of trades were set very high, making the solution amongst the fastest and most powerful available on the market today. Solarc has since successfully sold many solutions to its customers.

Energy Trading for the emerging Asian Electricity Markets

cKlear was enegaged by the Power Asset and Liabilities Management Corporation of the Phillipines (PSALM), which controls all of the electricity generation capacity for that country. The Phillipines is widely viewed as a leader within Asia for the development of a competitive electricity market. The system allowed multiple trading teams to compete within the spot and day-ahead market by bidding their generation capacity into the pool. cKlear provided all the software to manage submission of bids, inventory, and risk management. cKlear also provided training and consultancy to the trading teams in competetive market concepts such as hedging, options trading and energy derivatives.
